Information for Parents
ËÄÉ«AV of New Haven Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) office offers individual and group therapy, medication management, and support groups to your students at no charge. We are a confidential resource, meaning that students using our services can expect that their involvement in counseling remains private, with a few exceptions related to mandated reporting laws and upholding safety.
If a parent is concerned about their students’ mental well-being, they have several options. The first is to encourage their student to consider contacting CAPS to explore this supportive service. In addition, parents are welcome to contact CAPS with any questions or concerns; or contact relevant campus partners if they are worried about their students. Parents are not able to schedule appointments for their students, as we encourage students to take responsibility for their own mental health.
