TCoE DEI Mission and Vision Statement
The Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to be critical components of our campus culture and environment. We foster an open and welcoming environment where individuals can collaboratively learn and work comfortably while celebrating their identity. In our college, all students are provided the resources and support needed to be successful in their academic progress, and all faculty, staff, and students genuinely respect each other as individuals. We commit to an ongoing dialogue with all of our constituencies to ensure that we proactively meet evolving expectations in society and the workplace.
We strive to achieve a culture in which DEI is pervasive in all aspects of our college, which will be demonstrated by:
- Respect, learning, and understanding of individual differences and identities by all faculty, staff, and students
- Support and implementation of university-level changes in policies, procedures, programs, and services that will reduce bias within the community
- Faculty incorporating awareness of varying student needs into teaching and advising
- Faculty implementation of new DEI pedagogy in the classroom, including upper-division courses
- Continuous college-level resources and opportunities to learn more about DEI and resolve conflicts or misunderstandings
- Creation of guidelines and training for best practices in recruiting diverse faculty and staff hiring
- Creating transparency and access to DEI metrics and reports on an annual basis that will be shared with the college community on an annual basis
