New Music Professor Excited to Share his Vast Industry Experience with Students

Adam Caress, who joins the University of New Haven community this fall, looks forward to sharing his love of music with students.

Adam Caress, MBA will begin teaching at the University of New Haven this fall.

Adam Caress, MBA, has worn many hats during his 25-year-career in the music industry, working as a recording and performing artist, booking agent, venue manager, talent buyer, sound engineer, editor, and writer.

A former editor for Mule Variations, an online music and culture magazine, he has published more than 80 articles and reviews. He also wrote a book, , which was released in 2015.

"I really enjoyed researching and writing the book, and I am looking forward to embarking on another book project soon," said Prof. Caress. "I love music, and I love encouraging others in their love of music."

Prof. Caress will now inspire students at the University of New Haven to explore their passion for music. Beginning this fall, the new music department lecturer will teach "Introduction to the Music Industry."

"I am very excited to begin getting to know the faculty and students at the University of New Haven," he said. "I really enjoy being a part of an academic community."

Although new to the University and to Connecticut, Prof. Caress is excited to return to the northeast. The Boston Red Sox fan met his wife, Annie, in Boston, and he earned his bachelor’s degree from in Wenham, Mass. Formerly an adjunct faculty at in North Carolina, he is a graduate of that college’s MBA program.

Prof. Caress, who lived outside of Chicago and in Los Angeles as a child, relocated with his family from Asheville, North Carolina, where they were for the past eight years. He and Annie have four children – all under the age of 10 – and they are looking forward to being part of the New Haven community.

"We love traveling and exploring new places," he said. "We’re excited to explore the New Haven area."
