About John

John attended 鈥楾he Hartford Art School鈥 at the 鈥淯niversity of Hartford where he received his BFA and was awarded the 鈥淩uth Chaney Goodwin Award鈥. He continued his studies at the 鈥淧ratt Institute of Design, where he received his M.F.A., a Pratt Fellowship, was the recipient of a 鈥滷ord Foundation Grant鈥 and was named 鈥淧ratt Studio Scholar.

While in graduate school, John began his career as a designer for Gordon Micunis Interiors Inc. of Stamford CT. After receiving his MFA he continued to pursue his design career at Domus Contemporary Interiors of Orange, and West Hartford CT and then at Cohen Design of New Haven and Westport, CT, and Boca Raton, Florida.

John founded Element Design Group of Fairfield followed with Arabolos Design Associates of West Haven CT.聽and he is a registered Interior Designer in the State of Connecticut.

He's a Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and current President of CCID (Connecticut Coalition of Interior Designers). John's聽design work publications include, but are not limited to,聽Kitchen and Bath Design Guide and Hanley Wood Inc. publications, Kitchen and Bath Magazine, Women鈥檚 Day Innovation Series publications, and Connecticut Magazine.

He is currently an 鈥淎ssistant Professor and Professional Designer and Artist in Residence鈥 in the Department of Art and Design at the University of New Haven. He was been nominated by his students 8 times for 鈥淲ho鈥檚 Who in Teaching鈥澛燼nd nominated 3 ties for excellence in teaching at the University.

John has been a practicing Artist throughout his college and professional career, exhibiting his artwork both locally and regionally. In 2012 he received a patent for the development of a graphic algorithmic process that creates 鈥淐haotic鈥 patterns.
